During the stressful holiday season, the wonderful smell of cinnamon can lift anyone’s spirit. These inedible cookie holiday ornaments are the perfect accent on one’s christmas tree.
- 2 cups of applesauce
- 2 cups of cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon of glue (optional ingredient)
Prep time: 10 minutes
Bake time: 2.5 hours
Preheat oven to 200° F
Mix the cinnamon and applesauce in a bowl; mix the dough so that it’s a little stiff (if it’s to wet mix in some more cinnamon).
Dust your countertop with cinnamon and then place the freshly made dough on top of it.
Next, take a rolling pin and roll out the dough to your desired thickness.
Take some medium sized cookie cutters and cut the dough into many different shapes (note: the bigger the cookie the more likely it is to break).
Place the cutouts onto a non-stick cookie sheet (if a non-stick cookie sheet isn’t available, spray the sticky one with Pam or non-stick cooking spray).
Once the cookies are on the cookie sheet, take a straw and cutout a hole at the top of the cookie to tie ribbon through.
Bake the cookies for 2.5 hours.
Once taken out of the oven, tie a piece of ribbon through the hole so the cookie can hang from your tree.
If your cookie is a little jagged on the edges, you can sand it so it’s smooth and extra pretty.
These lovely cookies can’t be eaten, but they can make anyone get into the holiday spirit, even the Grinch.
